Rights Around the World

Human Rights Watch’s 2021 World Report highlights a world upended by climate change, migration crises, the COVID-19 pandemic, democratic recessions and a general crackdown on human rights and civil liberties around the world.

Glimpse from the Globe’s latest series to kick off the new year is: “Rights Around the World.” Glimpse editors and staff writers will be covering the state of human rights around the world through profiles, features, op-eds and more. This series is also supplemented by special podcast episodes diving into niche human rights topics.

This series began on December 10, 2021, the United Nation’s declared Human Rights Day, a global holiday marking the adoption of the UN Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. According to the UN, December is Universal Human Rights Month, a time for people in the U.S. and around the world to join together and stand up for the rights and dignity of all individuals.

This series is led by Managing Editors Sangeeta Kishore and Krishni Satchi.
