About Glimpse from the Globe

Glimpse from the Globe is an online student-run publication dedicated to providing timely and timeless analysis of international affairs. Established in 2013, founding Glimpse leadership identified the need to more prominently feature sophisticated and culturally engaging foreign affairs content produced by students at the University of Southern California. We strive to publish content that reflects the diversity of our publication’s contributing authors, while highlighting the pressing global challenges of our time. Beyond our news stories, all the work featured on Glimpse from the Globe provides an added level of analytical depth that challenges us to think critically.

It is in this spirit that Glimpse welcomes submissions from any author – on any topic or region – where the watermark of intellectual discourse is clearly elevated.

Letter from the 2023-2024 President

Dear Readers,

In a time where democracy wanes, freedom is diminishing, change is constant and the issues of our time are becoming increasingly global, it is vital that humankind steps up to restore compassion, truth and justice. At Glimpse from the Globe, we are committed to producing accurate and informative information about the state of the world in the pursuit of spreading fact. We hope to more than share the truth, but to inspire truth-seekers and change-makers.

I am extremely honored that Glimpse is allowing me to lead for another year. In the past two academic school years, our organization grew from 20 to over 100+ journalists, we formed a multimedia division to meet the needs of the innovative media age, became on the ground international reporters, and kept our promise to uphold our professionalism, integrity, and values. For this upcoming year, we are dedicated to fostering a collaborative and voracious community of journalists in which discourse and open dialogue is both appreciated and welcomed — I know I am personally committed to that mission.

With that said, our new executive and editorial team is excited and eager to begin our work by continuing to provide high-quality foreign affairs analysis and insight. Our team is most focused on growing our outreach, inclusivity, and impact for this upcoming year. I will be working alongside my good friend and colleague, Mané Berikyan, Glimpse’s editor-in-chief, for the 2023-2024 academic year. We also want to thank the past administration of Lauren Schulsohn and Sangeeta Kishore for their dedication and passion for our mission.

For those interested in joining our organization, feel free to reach out at glimpsefromtheglobe@gmail.com. We look forward to another incredible year.

Sarra Hussien
President
